Weddings

Last night I attended the wedding of David and Cat Arthur. This wedding was different from all the other weddings I've attended previously, seeing as I've only known the two as a couple. With Edward or Nick, I'd grown up with them and they met their wonderful women later on in life. David, from my perspective, has always been engaged to Cat.

They chose to have their ceremony in McDonough, GA. I'm not exactly sure why - neither was the brother of the groom, but it turned out to be a lovely little city. The Hazelhurst house is absolutely perfect for the event. A large, outdoor area served as the sanctuary and the house proper contained the reception. I am so happy that the weather worked out for them - it was absolutely beautiful outside. So beautiful, I wish I had brought my seersucker suit! It wasn't a total loss, however, as I was able to pull the bowtie.

The wedding ceremony was excellent. Short, sweet and to the point. Cat's mother being Jewish, there were a few traditions that were snuck in. They stared with the Shechechianu, a prayer thanking the Lord for keeping us alive (said in English) and  concluded the ceremony with the breaking of a glass.

I was not alone in this adventure as David, Cat and I have a number of overlapping friends. From my Wheel days, Brooke was there. She was with her current boyfriend, Mikey, and also present was her Ex, Randy. I'd met both of them before, so it was nice catching up with them. Also present from that crowd was Stephanie, Sarah and Lauren, all other people that I've hung out with from time to time. I came with Ariel, my roommate from next year. He and I met up with Shea and her fiancée, Doug, and all sat together. All I can say is the food was delicious and the cake was marvelous.

Once we made it back it back to the hotel, we were able to give Darthur his gift. Ariel and I split the price of the Flip video camera. I have the older generation and I absolutely love the thing. Not to turn this into and advertisement for it, but it is amazing for dance events and recording rehearsals. David thanked me and said it will be great for his Honeymoon to Hawaii!

The true party was back at the Hotel. I still had some of the cigars left over from the Bachelors' party, so I was able to give one of the Father of the Bride - instantly ingratiating myself it seems. A large group of us sat outside socializing and having a wonderful time overall. Ich habe auch mein Deutsch geübt! Das gefällt mir sehr. Katarina war ganz nett und leicht, mitzusprechen. Somehow, people ended up back in our room and as a result we now have a bit of beer to take back with us.

tl;dr: Had an amazing time. So happy for Cat & David.
