Harry Potter
Tonight, for the second night in a row, I saw the sixth Harry Potter movie, The Half Blood Prince. The first time I saw it, Friday night, I couldn't decide what I thought of it. They took a lot of liberties that I was not expecting and it really through me for a loop.
Tonight, I saw the movie for the second time with a different group of friends. Having had a day to process the presentation of the material, I've come to the conclusion that this really is one of my favorite from the series. I realized that I the issues I had with the movie stemmed from their introduction of new material. Realizing that, I could think about it more as ancillary information / stories and just let it flow. The best I can put it is that the movie was "true to the story, just not the book."
I also had a great time with the people tonight. I'd not had the chance to spend time with this group before and it was a pleasant reminder that not everyone is "an Emory person." These are real-world, down to Earth people. I hope to see some of the again soon.
Tomorrow, I plan on branching even further away from the cursed 'Emory Bubble.' There is a gathering of people who enjoy watching "Doctor Who," the classic British TV show and its spin-offs. The group is named "AtlantaGallifreyans," named after both where we are and the fictional planet that the Doctor calls home. There is also a spinoff series, Torchwood, which I believe they will be showing clips from tomorrow.
